Posted 9/4/00 [M] I met my wife in 1995, who had never shaved before, with the exception of the bikini line. For the last four years, we shave each other about once a week. The sex is great!!, not weird.

Posted 8/1/00 [M 45] I have been shaving for about four years now. I had always liked to keep my pubic area cut fairly short but was too embarrassed to shave it all off. Then I met my future wife! I came home one day to find that she had shaved herself for me. We had the best time that night, she has the cutest little pussy and now there is nothing between it and me! I confessed to her that I had always wanted to be shaved down there, so a couple of days later we set about doing just that. Since that first time I have shaved regularly, not just my pubes, but my entire body! It may seem like a lot of hard work, but once you"ve done it a few times you will get to know your body like never before. The shaving process itself becomes enjoyable. I can actually shave all over in the dark with no cuts! I use an ordinary twin blade razor and I've found that St Ives "Peach Sorbet" body wash is great when used as a shaving cream. I would encourage anyone who is considering shaving for the first time to go for it. The sight of two completely shaved bodies joined together is unbelievable. Don't forget those toes!

[M] i have found, using shaving cream or baby oil, prevents any nicks on the scrotum or anywhere else. i don't think i have ever cut myself.

Posted 7/1/00 [M 45] I'm presently between relationships so I can't give you a "personal experience report" yet, but I shaved my entire genital area last week. I started with an electric Wahl clipper which I otherwise use to trim my hair. The adjustable comb works extremely well for doing the initial cutting... no pinching or discomfort IF you don't shorten the length of the comb too much. And it got underneath all of the hairs that were laying down on the skin with no real discomfort.
Afterwards I used my Panasonic, foil-type (no slots), wet/dry razor without any lubricant. That worked quite well but the process was slow and I drew blood several times from the scrotum and the base of my penis, even though the shaving head is not "aggressive" like a Norellco slot-type razor. And the pain was quite sharp... but surprisingly, the styptic pencil I used was relatively painless. Curious.
I need to find a better way than shaving - for me it is just too painful and slow. The choices seem to be sugaring (Sweet Simplicity, others), waxing (various products) and dissolving (Nair, Magic, Epil-Stop, etc) the hair. Which of these is least painful? Does Epil-Stop work as well as advertised? I'm really tempted to try IT first. Will it burn, turn my penis and scrotum into shapeless masses of useless flesh, cause me to renounce all sex, etc? How about some personal use depilatory reports from you all?
Oh, and that little girl thing is priceless. Adult sexuality has nothing to do with perverted exploitation.
The feeling of being hairless was initially like a dirty little secret - what would my doctor say, would a new girlfriend understand, would she be repulsed, disclose my secret to others if we separated, would paramedics ridicule me on the way to the hospital after a car accident, you name it, on and on. Its actually pretty funny in retrospect, but it took a few days to adjust.
But now, one week later, I really don't care. If you're either male or female and considering genital shaving, I strongly recommend that you try it at least once! When I touch myself now, the sensations are fabulous, way beyond what I first imagined! And when I find HER, I can only imagine how good it will feel if (or when) SHE shaves. I can foresee rampant oral sex if likes and wants it. I can hardly wait.
Guys, you won't believe the difference! It is a massive turn on. I mean, just soaping yourself in the shower is erotic as hell. It would be fun to share that task occasionally. I can extrapolate from my own touch sensations the belief that any woman who would not approve is someone I would not be interested in for a lot of other reasons too. It is just too much of a turn on not to try it. I'm grinning as I punch the keyboard.

[M] I just started shaving the shaft and scrotum. I cannot believe how good it feels....every movement is sensual. Even walking gets my attention. My wife is 'surprised' at this development, but I think she likes it. She had a bad experience with personally shaving before we met, and now resists it. At his time, a close trim for her is all I can get done I will say, a shaved pussy will result in my partner demanding that I stop cunnilingus......I will not quit until she makes me.

[F] My bikini area shaving story: At first due to the cut of of just about all my underwear and swimsuits, I tried shaving my pubic area. For about a day it looked good, then not only did I start getting stubble but also I got those little red bumps and the skin got really irritated. I thought perhaps it was a one time thing so when it healed up a bit I tried again. Same problem. So a while later I tried depilatory cream. Same problem. Then I got a boyfriend, and he mentioned that he was interested in seeing me with a shaved pussy. I had heard good things about waxing, so I bought some of those double sided wax strips. Besides that they didn't get all the hair (maybe only 50% of it)(whatever it missed I had to go in with tweezers and get) and they were even more akward to use, The irritation was even worse, it showed almost immidiately. But I didn't start getting the little bumps right away, so I said, "Dammit, I just went through too much pain to put up with this again!" and so I got anything I could find--salt water, Nadina's Cream, aloe--and applied it to the irritated skin. The aloe seems to be working the best so far, keeping the irritation to a minimum. Perhaps in another week or so it'll heal up more and look better--just in time for my BF to get back from his dad's house. But I think next time I won't use the wax strips, I'll use the microwave wax or something that's more likely to get all the hair the first time, so I dont have to get out those tweezers again.

Posted 4/7/00 [F 51] Just wanted to say that I recently shaved my pussy as a surprise for my boyfriend. Our first sexual experience was incredible. Multiple orgasms occurred. I love the feeling of being shaved and enjoy touching my soft lips. Of course, it requires shaving almost everyday using a quality shaving cream and razor. I follow with a cold water rinse and then use baby oil or a good moisturizer. Those little red bumps stay away if you take the proper precautions. I believe I intend to stay shaved for a long time. Sex has never been better.

Posted 2/1/00 [M 36] i was just reading the posted comments on shaving and wanted to add my comments. i had a girlfriend several years ago who had never shaved. one night we decided to do her since i always like a shaved pussy. just the act of shaving the hair itself brought her to orgasm several times. i have "gone down" on women who have had full bushes and have had my last two girlfriends who shaved. i find it a big turn on to find a woman who is totally bald between her legs. i could "go down" on her forever. my recent girlfriend stated she used to get real bad yeast infections, and since she started regularly shaving herself she has not had any.

[M 45] I am a 45 year old male, happily married to a wonderful partner for 19 years. Just slightly apprehensive about writing, but there is a certain titillation about sharing thoughts with a complete stranger.
For the past number of years I have been in the practice of shaving my genital area, penis shaft, scrotum, the area towards my anus and under arms every week. I figure if my spouse offers me smooth under arms then that is the least I can do in return. Besides, both of us seem to be aroused by kissing and tickling smooth skin, and our under arms and my penis area are not exceptions. So far my spouse has not even hinted at offering me a silky smooth pussy, but I can be patient just waiting with anticipation.
With care and practice using a twin bladed razor, I manage to achieve a smooth clean shave without nicks. A good daily massage with a moisturising cream keeps my skin smooth and supple without the tough dried out appearance that one of your writers commented on.
My wife certainly enjoys kissing me in all of the right places and the smoother the surface the more kisses she shares with me. I particularly become erect when her tongue slides down my shaft over my orbs towards my anus rose. What an incentive for me to continue my weekly shave. So far I have not suggested my spouse consider the same practice, however I would certainly invite comments on how I might approach her on this matter. I can imagine what kissing her smooth labia would be like and it more than makes my groin tingle. A mouth full of pubic hair can be ticklish which has its advantages but there is the hassle of removing stray hairs before gagging.
Just to let your readers know that I happened across a new shaving cream that comes in a tube, which means there are no harsh chemicals normally found in cream or gel non aerosol cans. It is mild and provides an excellent lathers avoiding razor burns. Available at London Drugs it is called "Kiss My Face" Rather appropriate don't you think, for Kissing my genitals.

Posted 1/1/00 [F 29] I just shaved this morning, after much research on the internet, and I can't wait for my husband to come home!
I've been wanting to shave for so long and wasn't sure how my husband would feel about it. He's a minister. I started by trimming it really short. At first he didn't say much but after a few weeks he said that he liked it. I then told him I wanted to shave it and he offered to help!
We've been having so much fun with all the new things I've been learning of your website. I don't think he knows where I'm coming up with all these new ideas...but he sure is loving it!
Thanks again

Posted 12/5/99 [M] I just wanted to say it was a great pleasure to stumble on this website and read so many interesting comments about shaving. It appears most people were for shaving but I can never understand that. My fiance is from an asian country and I remember the first time I saw her undressed. She has the most beautiful, long, thick, soft pubic hair that I have ever seen. Her hair is at least 4 inches long and very silky smooth. Her pubic hair, contrasted against her tan skin and her long hair on her head, was such an erotic experience. I actually bragged to friends about her bush. I would never dream of having her trim it, although she offered.
However, it is, of course, extremely important for her to keep herself clean there as her hair runs all the way up her ass. She goes to the extent of conditioning it and brushing like the hair on her head. Trimming just doesn't do it for me. A woman has hair, a girl does not. I believe most men want a nice bush. There is no better feelng than for me to enter my girlfriend and feel the smoothness of all that hair. Oral sex is no problem as I just brush it to the side. I would be interested to hear the experiences of other men who have had asian women with full bushes or asian women.

Posted 11/1/99 [M] My wife and I decided to try something different. She had shaved her pubic area bald occasionally over the course of our relationship. This past week she shaved me. She shaved my scrotum entirely bald and trimed my pubic hair very short. I had very long, thick, strait hair up until that point. The feeling when she goes down on me is incredible and there's no hair getting in her mouth. She loves to suck on my smooth balls. It really feels different when we make love also. She keeps her lips shaved smooth at all times. The feeling when I go in and out is great. My wife also says my cock and balls look bigger without all that thick hair around them. I think I may keep them this way for a while.

[F 23] I read your "shaving" section with some interest. I have been a lifeguard at a indoor pool at a large university for several years and see a lot of bush in the shower and locker room.
There has been a trend towards trimming and shaving. Most college age women these days keep it trimmed very short. Its not uncommon at all to see one completely shaved. You still see an occasional full bush, but its ususally either a junior high or high school school aged girl, or a women in her mid 20's or older. Also, most red haired women (even college age) still keep a full bush. One told me its because men who are attracted to red heads like it that way and their boyfriends say not to trim it or shave it.
However, the trend may be changing. You may have seen the nude pictures of Shania Twain that were recently taken surreptitiously and posted on the internet. To many people's surprise, Shania has a very thick and full, dark brown bush. Its VERY sexy. There is one picture of her where she is bent over drying off after her shower and you can get a very good view of her bottom and the bush peaking out--she doesn't shave back there either. Anyway, Shania has become such a trend setter, that she may turn the whole bush-fashion back around!

Posted 10/1/99 [F ] In response to the gentleman concerned that his girlfriend said "it hurt" to have sex now that they are both shaved: My husband and I both shave. I was concerned when he suggested it, because I had been shaved pre-op once and it was itchy-hell growing back. I have found that is not a problem if I "maintain" my shaving...a soft but coarse washcloth used to exfoliate the area also prevents ingrown hairs. The only "pain" (was really just a mild discomfort) I have every experienced was due to slightly long "stubble" on my husband's penis which caused some irritation after intercourse, upon urination...not unlike friction burn. This could be alleviated by shaving more frequently...it is also possible that during shaving, she gave herself razor-burn which could be remedied by improved shaving techniques. I have found "Skintimates" shaving gel to be the most gentle and it does not burn sensitive membranes. The fact that she was opposed to doing this in the first place may also be causing some "emotional" pain...she may feel it is "taboo" and associate with it negatively.
Personally, I love having a shaved pussy! Oral sex is far more intense, no unwanted hairs in the mouth (ha!), and it feels cleaner overall! My husband's penis is beautifully formed, and shaved, it is perfectly flawless (no bias, of course :-) ).

[F 29] i'm writing in response to the 24yr old male who has recently taken to shaving with his girlfriend (letter enclosed below). he mentioned that his girlfriend was experiencing pain during sex since shaving. i'm new to shaving myself, but i had 2 thoughts on the matter...
1) perhaps the pain she is experiencing is due to stubble growth. even small growth is very stiff and could be irritating the delicate skin in or around the vagina. (I know i need to shave every other day to avoid that prickly effect, and im not a hairy person.)
2) she may also want to visit her ob/gyn to make sure there is no health problem that may be causing the pain.

Posted 9/3/99 [M 24] A new Question - Please help him
I'm a 24 year-old male and I read your "shaving" section with a lot of attention, as a shaven pussy has always been a major turn on for me. Over the years my girlfriends have usually obliged my taste, and boy is this something I enjoy. However, my current girlfriend does not want to shave (she does not like the way it looks), and that's why we decided that we should do it together (the both of us ought shave...). I had never shaven my cocks and balls before (too shy, I guess), but I wanted to give it a try..
The feeling of owning a shaven cock is.. "different", to say the least, but very pleasant at the same time, after shaving, I would feeling horny and culdn't wait to show my girlfriend my new look... she's been extremely surprised (she didn't believe I'd do it!!), and thought it was very "cute" and it apparently turn her on. Now, I can tell you for sure that oral sex on a bald prick feels way better than the usual thing.. really great, and she enjoyed it more too... so far so good, huh?
What's wrong? Well, she said it "hurt" whan you had sex, especially with the woman on top position, which she usually loves... . I still don't understand how a shaven dick can hurt her pussy more than a hairy one... does anyone have any clue about this (is it because of HER hair that stings her own pussy or somethin'?).. It is the 1st time I hear about such a problem, and none of the people I've talked to so far know where it comes from...
It is such a pity because not only does she want me to grow hair back on my dick (too bad, I enjoyed the feeling!), but she is more determined than ever not to shave her pussy.... so, if anyone has experienced the same kind of thing please help me.. hurting my girlfriend during sex is the last thing I wanna do.. :(

Posted 8/7/99 [F 29] My boyfriend does his balls & scrotum. I love it! I liked licking and sucking his balls before, but since he's shaved them, I could spend hours there. I now shave everything except a small strip up top, which I clip short. I love the sensations, although I find that the rubber elastic along some underwear can pull the skin and/or cause a rash. I'd really like to try waxing or something that can remove the hair for longer than a few days, since it gets prickly when the new hair starts coming in. I'm usually in too much hurry to shave it everyday and only average about once a week.

[M 20] I am a 20 year old male, shaving is good for people that don't have a lot of really thick hair that is packed really tightly close together I've noticed for most people. My last girlfriend (who was 34) had shaved for years. When I was intimate with her, her hairs were hard and spikey, she hadn't saved in a while. Women, if you start shaving using a blade try to keep up your shaving please. :) It can get pretty nasty if you let it grow back and it's like steel wool. It differs from woman to woman. So that was just a general comment. Doesn't apply to everyone.
I'd recommend using some of the new hair removal products instead of a blade. For example, I started shaving my face early on, I'm only 20 and man, do I wish I hadn't started with a razor so young. The texture of your skin after repeated shaving (I'm talking years), it takes a beating even if you are extremely careful (depends a bit on skin type), same goes for skin of your genitals. I've seen it on many women up close when they're spread (and shaved), and the texture of the skin doesn't look as healthy, its rough, and can look like its been through a war, not because it was poorly shaved either. I'd recommend removing pubic hair in a razorless, least painful fashion if its possible for you. Theres my $0.02 worth.

[M 40] I am a 40 year old masculine gay male who sometimes shaves his genital area -- usually my balls, the sides of my cock (my "condom zone") and down between my legs back to my anus. I hate getting hairs caught in the rolled end of a condom and I like the look of my equipment when its hairless.
I use electric clippers followed by an electric facial razor. The biggest problem is that the hairs on my genitals seem to grow from slightly raised folicles which often get nipped by the electric razor. There are always a few bleeding nicks. For this reason I never shave if I know I am going to have sex within the next 24 hours. I wait till the nicks are heals to avoid HIV tranfer through the open wounds. As for the irritation factor -- I find I have become use to it. Several years ago I started close-cropping the hair on my head and shaving the back of my neck about half way up the back of my skull -- at first the back of my neck was very irrated. Since then, continuous shaving has toughened the area just like my face. The gential area is no different. If I shave my genitals frequently, the skin toughens and shaving becomes easier and less irrating each time. Now, even if a goes week between shaving, I hardly notice the feeling of being shaved for more than a few hours after doing it. The stubble growing back has never seemed to give me any trouble.
An acquaintance once mentioned a sports depilatory he used on his private parts and he said it was excellent. Unfortunately I don't recall the name -- I believe it had the word "sport" in the name though. If anyone knows what it is, I would appreciate knowing it. I'd like to try it.

Posted 6/1/99 [F 28] I am a 28 year old female, divorced, and engaged, who recently began shaving at the request of my fiancée. Before, I've always thought shaving was pretty sick, I thought that the men who wanted it were into the "little girl" thing. (So I appreciated the recent comment from the guy who pointed out that that's not it.) I knew my fiancée was NOT into little girls (there's nothing remotely little about me) so I was intrigued when he asked for it. He loves to give me oral sex, though, and he told me we would both enjoy it more if I did. So I tried it. First of all, let me say that getting it done was a major PAIN! If you've ever thought of using one of those cold wax deals, don't even bother. The hair has to be really long for it to work at all, and in my case, I guess I just have too much body heat, because it never hardened at all - it was just a big runny, sticky, oozy mess!!! Finally I just shaved it with a razor and soap, and I maintain it with Nair, except around the inner edges, which have to be shaved daily because I can't stand any stubble there at all.
Here's the good part though. From the minute I finished shaving, I was REALLY turned on. Wearing clothes feels different, and I constantly feel like I've got a "dirty little secret." This is cooler than the hottest lingerie I've ever worn. The best part is that my fiancée went nuts. When he first saw it, I got oral sex for 35 minutes straight, until I was bucking and screaming for him to stop! Now, I feel everything more intensely. It's like the hair was preventing some of my nerve endings from being exposed enough to feel what was going on. Regular sex is better, oral sex is better, everything is better, and I've never felt this sexy in my life! In short, I LOVE IT!!! I will NEVER grow hair there again!!

Posted 5/1/99 [M] We've been married for 23 years. My wife started shaving after we watched a video several years ago and she realized how much it turned me on. Since then it is out little secret when she shaves....and she knows it drives me crazy when she does. I luv to kiss her when she shaved.

[M]I tried shaving for myself. I wondered how it would feel. I loved it. I couldn't keep my own hands off. I tried creams, including Eplistop but they didn't work and irritated the inner areas. The shaved area grew back so fast. I don't have very much hair and it is fine but the pubic hair grew like a beard. I needed to shave every day.
Finally I tried waxing. It hurt at first but then it wasn't bad. I love the results. It has been three weeks and the hair that is growing back is very fine and some has not come back at all, at least yet. I feel so sexy. I'll never grow it back.

[M] Shaved or not isn't the question with me...it's being the one to do the shaving.
Cut, trim, polish...ahh. The idea of a "slip" of the thumb to her clit: watch, feel her reaction. A taste now and then.
Little girl look? Naw, the sight of the inner lips flaring out trying to escape their confines definitely says there's a woman here.

Posted 4/1/99 [M 52] I am 53 this coming April 28, but still as sexual as ever. Actually I still look young and often pass off as 36, so that's cool too. I first heard about your Web site from Annie's Underwear less Pantiless board which was my first step toward sexual freedom ( my wife still thinks I'm nuts or entering my mid life crisis) Once I checked out your site I decided to try shaving my genital area. I used a barber's razor to get the long stuff and then lathered up and shaved under my balls and the base of my prick and even either side of my ass. The feeling was incredible. I used Nivea Light Cream to keep it soft when the hairs started to grow out and then I would shave again It's pretty difficult the first time but after a while one gets a "second sense" for doing it. Then I went to the local shopping mall one night to a "As Seen on T.V." store and saw a hair removal product called EPILSTOP manufactured by Health Direct - 245 8th Avenue - Suite 855 - New York, NY 10011. It actually seems to dissolve the hair and claims that it grows back lighter and softer, which it seems to do. I've only been using it for about a month but the results are fabulous. The instructions that came with the product caution about getting to close to mucus membranes etc. My wife really thinks I'm nuts and told me she would not shave as she had an itchy experience a few years ago, as I well remember. I hope that I can convince her.
FYI - Obviously I cannot endorse EPILSTOP since I haven't tried it. If you have, let me hear from you too. JEL

[M]My wife has shaved for three years she is 38 and goes to the doctors like that and all we love the feeling during all of are love making. No doctor or nurse has ever said any thing to her about it yet

[M 20]Hello, My girlfriend and I have been having sex now for two years and i travel a lot and resonantly on my last return i found out that my girlfriend had shaved off all her pubic hair. Now at first i found it shocking, but very shortly I found it very erotic. It was her first time and we both would like to keep it shaven.

[M 35]I am a 35 year old married male who has been shaving since puberty.( Bald ) My wife is also shaved bald. We both love not only the look and feel, but the constant state of arousal that comes with it. We have been together for 8 years and we have as sex now as we did in the beginning. My advice to men and women is to shave it all off. It's a major turn on.

Posted 2/1/99 [F - 25] I have been shaving for 3 years. I did it the first time for my boy friend. I shaved earlier in the day. and then left my underwear off, when I dressed for dinner. At the resteraunt I casually slipped his hand under my skirt. Let me tell you he wanted to go home right then, it was sweet torture having to eat dinner. Since then we have broken up but I still shave, It makes me feel sexy and anytime you tell a guy that they practically drool, I never have problems getting oral sex. And if a doctor or nurse said anything or made a comment I would find a new one. it's my body, I can do what ever I want with it and they don't have the right to judge, shave and enjoy!!!!!!!

[M]My wife and I have shaved each other for several years. It started out as a tease and now is part of our weekly routine. I travel quite a bit on business and we had discussed shaving prior to my trip. She said that if I shaved myself that she would shave also. Well the night before I was to return home, I shaved my balls and around the base of my dick. It was a sensational feeling, I was rock hard all night. the next night when she met me at the airport, she had on a long dress. As we got into the car I kissed her and foundled her breasts. She then raised up the dress to expose her smooth puss. I was extremely excited. When I showed her the handy work that I had done, she could not let it go, she sucked me onthe way home and we made wild love all night. Now we consider shaving each other part or our own sexual maintainence.

[F]I have dark, thick, naturally curly hair on my head so the hair on other parts of my body is also thick. I only trim my pubic hair because removing the hair totally is pure agony for me. Believe me, I've tried all methods! I sometimes get ingrown hairs on my legs and armpits but the bikini line is the worst. I did find something that works best for me on the bikini line though. I bought a depilatory called "Magic". It's a shaving powder marketed for black men to use on their faces to eliminate and prevent razor bumps. It comes in a powder form you mix with water and use just like Nair or any of the other hair removal products.
I follow the instructions on the container and don't leave it on for more than 5 minutes. It works for me on the inner thigh area which is my main concern. Maybe you might pass this on in next month's update?

[M]The comments on shaving have proven to be very useful. Shaving is related to so many other aspects of sexuality, such as intercourse, oral sex, and even anal sex (where hygiene is at a premium). Also, it seems to be getting more fashionable. Still more research could be done in this area, especially as to how many men and women engage in this practice.

1/3/99 [F] I am a married female, I have been shaving for years and was shaven when I met my husband. Imagine my delight and surprise when I found that he also shaves himself. The only difference is that I shave completely and he just shaves the hair short. It is entirely appreciated because it is SO much cleaner and the hair isn't in my face & mouth. I also think that it is so sexy!! :-)

11/01/98 [M - 51] Regarding the "problem" of dealing with your doctor or nurse once you have shaved your vaginal area: If you are experiencing a more rewarding sex life with your partner (and my wife is another woman who says that being shaved enhances her sensitivity to oral lovemaking), well that will have to be THEIR problem rather than yours! If you're asked why you do it, is there a need for any more of an answer than "because my husband prefers me this way" or "because sex is more satisfying for me?" If your doctor has a problem accepting that, then perhaps he has a problem accepting other aspects of your being a normal, sexual human female, and therefore, perhaps you ought to find a physician who has less trouble accepting you as you really are. For us, it's a non-issue, because nobody in the medical profession has ever commented on it one way or the other.

[M ? - shaving and oral sex]For example, if a woman shaves her vulva, the bare skin invites different techniques. Her lover can suck on her vulva, giving her quite a sensation. Also, flicking the tongue crosswise over the lips, especially the labia minora, can produce quite a thrill. Alternating this practice with clitorial stimulation is even better.
For the man, wonders can also be produced. The woman can go up and down on his shaft while flicking her tongue over the head and upper (front)side of the penis. She can then concentrate at the base, letting the pressure build up and then slowly come back up. This will produce tremendous pleasure. Alternating this method with licking and sucking the testicles is even better. As the man is about to climax, gently stimulating the penis with her teeth will produce super results.

[F - 28]I am a 28 year old female who just started shaving in the last few months. I first did it as a sex play kind of thing with my husband, and discovered that the sensations were so much more pronounced that i never wanted to have hair again! I also have discovered that if you shave everyday there is not as much irritation, also that the Nair works great.
Take care if you want to use a depillatory - see below - JEL

10/3/98 A letter from a visitor reads, in part,
Is there a organization for men and women who dont shave?I prefer a very hairy woman. Anyone know of anything?

[And this letter arrived] I happened to come across the information you provided on pubic shaving, which is becoming more and more popular. If someone were to write a history on this practice, it would indeed be interesting.
For example, it was not that long ago that women did not even shave under their arms or their legs. Now they do, as do some men who are into body building or swimming. Still other men now engage in shaving because they like the aesthetics.
A woman's pubic area has an interesting history too. For example, a quick look at Playboy and Penthouse twenty years ago reveals that women retained more pubic hair than they do today; pubic hair has become less and less.
Many couples enjoy the smooth look for various reasons. Some like the "feel," and others like it for sex, especially oral sex, where both partners don't have to worry about picking up stray hairs in their mouths. Also, it heightens sensitivity. Shaving is becoming more and more popular, especially at nudist camps where the "bare" look is in style.
One area you might address is visiting the doctor. I think many people who would shave otherwise refrain because they are afraid of what the doctor or nurse might think. Do you have any suggetions for dealing with this problem? Would it be helpful to talk to the doctor or nurse first? I have heard eveything from no or few remarks to humiliating lectures. I would appreciate your input on this aspect of shaving.
Any opinions from you?

[and this] [F 42] I have shaved since 18 YRS of age. I was not having sex and was still a virgin but it made me feel very clean and sexy. One of the first times when I visited my doctor for a regular female exam an older nurse who was helping acted irritated and asked me why I shaved. My smiling response was "Because I think it is beautiful." Frowning surely thinking of her own she left the room... bet she thought about this for some time and maybe shaved herself.
Now that I am older and have experienced a great sexual relationship I know it is not only the way it looks but also how great it feels not to let anything stand in the way of seeing and feeling this beautiful part of my body.

And some advice from another visitor
Get the best of both worlds...try this:
#1 - Use an electric clipper with a #2 or #3 comb on it to shorten hair all over the pubic area
#2 - Then, to protect the mucus menbrane, put Vaseline on the inside of your 'lips.'
#3 - Then use Nair or whatever to remove hair
*** But try removing only the hair between your legs and up the front to the top of your 'slit'... You can also remove it on the sides to reshape your pubic hair.
The manufacturers of such products warn strongly not to use on mucus menbranes so a word of WARNING - BE VERY CAREFUL should you chose to try this.

I would like to share my thoughts on shaving the pubic area. I always knew my husband wanted me to shave it, but i just never really wanted to. I figured, God put it there, it must serve a purpose or something like that. Then i was thinking, God put hair on my lages too, and i shave that. So finally, after 5 years together, i shaved it all off one night, and let me tell you, it was like the first time all over again! He couldn't keep his hands (or anything else) off of me. Since then, he performes oral sex quite frequently, and there is a lot more sensitivity, as well as not so much hair pulling! I can put up with a little itching here and there for that reaction!!

Another visitor writes - We have recently started a shavers home page web ring, and now have 13 members. Here is the URL if you would like to visit any of the pages. http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=shavingring;index

8/7/98 In my opinion, I shave the lower area of my scrotum and area around my penis. I also trim the hair short because my lover likes to lick and suck my balls. She says that trimming keeps the hair out of her way and out of her mouth.
My lover trims her pubes and shaves her bikini line also. We have found that with her trimming makes her more sensative and shaving her bikini line makes it easier access to perform oral sex without getting a mouthful of hair.

8/1/98 I shaved my bikini area at the request of my boyfriend, he thinks it is a big turn on for him. After a few sessions of trying to shave it in the mirror and finding that very difficult, I asked him if he would like the honor. He now shaves my bikini area about once every two weeks, this is a great part of foreplay. The feelings are intense. You mentioned that in order to avoid iritatioon, shave about oncea month, I find that if you shave the area once a week, the irritation to my sensitive skin is much less.

3/6/98 Shaving: My own comments first. I shave my 'bikini line,' the hair that grows on the upper insides of my thighs and into the crease between my leg and belly, with an electric razor and have had few problems. I also trim my hair and keep it rather short. More than that, other than just before the birth of my two children, I've never shaved, nor has Ed. Depilitories, like Nair, aren't meant for use near tender, mucous membranes. You can, of course, merely use a scissors and trim the hair very short but many want a totally smooth feel.

Here's an article on shaving which I reprint with the permission of the Society for Human Sexuality. (I have a link to them on my links page if you want other valuable information).
Note - I've never tried this regimen but it all seems to make sense to me. If you try it, let me know how it works.
Basic Steps:
1) If you have long pubic hairs, trim hair with clippers or scissors. Electric clippers are best for this purpose.
2) Take a long, warm bath beforehand.
3) Before applying shaving cream, rinse area with cool water.
4) Apply shaving cream a few minutes before shaving to soften hairs. Consider using a shaving cream with additional conditioners or aloe.
5) Be sure to use a sharp blade. You might try using two new blades if you are shaving a large area.
6) When shaving, stroke an area no more than twice to reduce skin irritation. On the first stroke, go "with the grain" to remove most of the hair, then go "against the grain" for a smooth, close shave.
7) Be sure to clean the area afterwards with soap and water to reduce the risk of infection. Ideally, give the area a second cleansing using cotton balls and rubbing alcohol.
8) Some people find daily applying baby powder or talcum powder especially helpful after shaving to keep the area dry and irritation-free. (Note - there have been some reported studies linking talcum powder that enters the vagina to uterine or cervical cancer)
9) Practice clean hygiene after shaving, washing the area at least once a day to reduce sweat and oil build-up.
10) Go as long as possible between shavings to reduce skin irritation.

A few warnings:
1) People who allergic and react to some shaving creams: This area seems to have heightened sensitivity. Furthermore, if it does react, your natural sweat and the natural abrasion this area receives will most likely make your life a living hell [temporarily]. Consider avoiding shaving all together, or try warning tip #3. If you do decide to shave this area, make sure you use hypoallergenic shaving cream.
2) People with sensitive skin may wish to avoid shaving for the same reasons. Again, if you chose to shave, consider shaving cream made for sensitive skin and use a hypoallergenic moisturizer afterwards.
3) Consider closely trimming your hair instead. It provides many of the benefits of shaving without all the risks!
4) Letting hair grow out after shaving your pubic area is a bitch. The sharp hairs combined with the sensitive skin will make you realize just how much movement happens in that area on an average day. Chaffing is nearly unavoidable.
5) Keeping #4 in mind, people who walk/run/exercise a lot might wish to skip shaving all together if you don't want to invest the time in regular shavings.

One visitor uses Dial antibacterial Soap and emphasizes the importance of using a very sharp razor just about every day. Another woman states, "I have found the using hair conditioner instead of shaving cream really helps to keep the irritation to a minimum."

I have no problem with shaving. I am completely shaven. I just do it naturally as part of the routine in the shower every morning. Just like shaving my legs. I use no shaving cream or anything at all. Just the shower water. I use a Bic or Goodnews or Lady Shick type razor. Use the same one for as long as it lasts using it every day sometimes two or three times a day on my legs and my pussy area. I have not had any irritations or infections or anything. And I have been doing it every day for about 3 years.

Waxing: The best way to get a perfectly smooth pussy is to wax. However, most waxes are incredibly irritating. Fortunately, there is this new type of wax called Sweet Simplicity. The difference with Sweet Simplicity is that the wax is a different substance than other waxes, and it is applied to a very thin layer, so when the hair is pulled out, there is little irritation. Also, the hair grows back tapered at the ends, instead of sharp. I can't find the number for Sweet Simplicity, but I use it and heartily recommend it, not only for a clean pussy, but also for a hair-free body.

Sugaring: Here's what visitors have told me.

All I know about it is that its a method "similar to" waxing for hair removal, except you use some sort of powder mixture of sugar citric acid & other stuff (don't know what). You heat the mixture in a microwave to a comfortably warm temp, (I'm guessing you add water) then apply the mixture to the area where you want to remove hair. You apply a cloth strip over the paste, and then pull off the cloth strip. From what I've heard, no experience, the hair that grows back seems to be finer and easier to remove the next time you 'sugar'. Supposedly sugaring doesn't cause the skin become as tender as with waxing. I would think waxing the vulva would be a fairly painfull/tender operation, and that's why I'm looking for a method that's as thorough waxing without the "pain" and without the disadvantages of shaving.

And this:
I had my arms done once, the substance is like really thick honey. When it is cold it is solid, heated a little it becomes maleable. What the person did was pull a piece of it off and work it with her hands to soften it. The thing that makes sugaring better than waxing is that when the hair is pulled out it is pulled with the grain not against it like waxing. The substance is worked in to the hair, in the opposite direction that it grows, kind of in a strip, then "flicked" off in the direction of hair growth. Much less painful than waxing, and it gets the hair from the root so when it grows back it's not like stubble. I think it can be purchased at health food stores.

Two other comments. One from a man who wishes women wouldn't shave. I'm tired of looking at the little girl look."

And another man wonders whether shaving has any effect on the feel of oral sex for a woman - good or bad. Any comments?
