Life After Prostate Surgery

Updated 5/08 [M 55] My doctor told me to use it or loose it. With a menopausal wife I take matters into my own hands occasionally. At 55, my body does not react as a 22 year old, and I try to make the best of the situation at hand.

Updated 10/07 [M 75] I turned 75, less than a month ago.....In May of 2006, I had my prostate removed due to discovery of cancer....my doctor gave samples of the "pills". Within a few months my penis would fill out or "plump up" but never rigid enough for penetration. At my last check up with the doc, I was exposed to a compounded liquid which is injected directly into the penis, I know sounds horrible but is barely noticeable actually...within ten minutes I had an erection after a period of some 5 years that in fact was a bit painful for not having been that filled in a long time....but 4 hours later it finally went down...and me with no walnuts to crack...*S* subsequent injections have produced the same results....3 1/2 to 4 hour erections and it doesnt matter if I orgasm or not...it stays there til the lady is begging to quit....Any urologist can advise on this compound....
I asked for more information so he wrote ...
The liquid is a "compounded prescription", meaning it has to be mixed at a pharmacy capable of, and licensed to actually create drugs. Generically it's named, "TRIMIX" by my pharmacy.. (mayo-uou) which is located near the University of Utah. Hence the uou.
It's a combination of the following ingredients: ALPROSTADYL 5.88 MCG ; PAPAVERINE 17.64 MG ; PHENTOLAMINE .588 and it is inject dosage is 3.5 to 5 ml. As with any injection it is drawn into an insulin size needle, and injected directly into the side of the penis, and tho responses to that thought at dramatic at best, it is relatively painless, as the nerves of the penis really are in the head.
It takes from 10 to 30 minutes and some voluntary manipulation for it to reach it's maximum effect, but you end up with an erection, at least in my case, in line with those achieved normally at about age 28-30. Meaning not as hard as 15-16, but most definately USEABLE....the interesting side effect is, even upon climax, the erection is maintained for up to 3.5 to 4 hours...as recent as two nights ago...my lady and I participated in a variety of oral sex and intercourse from 9 pm to 12:20 am....only with stops to wipe up the sweat...HAHAHAHAH Hope this helps and will direct men having similar problems after prostate surgery to seek help and not just "write sex off" as undoable....after all I just turned 75 and still love to have sex at least 3 times a week.....
